If the Switch at its $300 price point is too expensive for some, I highly doubt those would be just as willing to pay even more for the demand of more powerful hardware which wasn't available at the time, especially not in a handheld / mobile formfactor. Said alternatives would have likely led to much more expensive device all in all, nevermind being gated technologically by what could reasonably used in portable in the first place, considering all the aforementioned factors.
